What a burglary costs you
£1,180 of yours. About £300 to them.
What an average home burglary takes from a household, and what it’s worth to the burglar.
What it’s worth to the burglar
Stolen goods are usually sold on quickly for a quarter to a third of what they’re worth. So the average £1,180 taken from a home becomes roughly £300 to £390 in the burglar’s pocket. Cash and bank cards are the exception.
All Home Office figures are in 2015/16 prices; today’s values are higher.
