What the figures mean

The Home Office records what happened to every burglary reported in the year to March 2026. In about 1 in 20, someone was charged or summonsed. In more than 7 in 10, the investigation closed without a suspect being identified.

To be fair to the police: charge rates rise a little as older cases are finished, and one arrest can clear up a whole string of burglaries. But for most households, the chance of seeing anyone charged for their burglary is small.

That’s the reality HOLDOOR was made for. If the odds of catching a burglar afterwards are low, the best protection is stopping them getting in.

The odds are on their side. Put your door on yours.
